Your 1st Lesson

Please wear sensible shoes, trainers or soft shoes are best. Please - no heavy boots or high heels.

If you need glasses or contact lenses, please remember to wear them. Your eye sight will be tested before we start. If you don't bring them, you won't be able to drive!

Don't forget your driving license, we'll need to see both parts before you can drive!

We realise how nervous you may be when starting to learn to drive and will make sure you are relaxed and at ease throughout the process. Your instructor will be waiting for you at the agreed location in our sign written Ford Focus. You will be greeted with a warm smile and a handshake and asked to make yourself comfortable in the passenger seat. Your instructor will show you his ID and introduce himself. After a brief welcome chat your instructor will ask you for payment, check your driving license and then drive a short distance to a suitable area. He will chat with you on the way and try to find out what you already know about driving. When you get to a suitable location you will have your eyesight checked by reading a number plate from 20.5 metres or 20 metres depending on the type of the number plate.

You will then be invited into the drivers seat and you will be shown how to make yourself comfortable. You will be talked through the controls and the function and correct operation of everything will be explained to you. We encourage you to ask questions on anything you're not sure about, there is no such thing as a stupid question, if you're not sure - just ask! Your instructor will then talk you through, step by step, how to prepare the car, make sure it's safe and how to move away and stop again. By the end of your first lesson you will have moved away and stopped several times.

Your instructor will then fill out your pupil record card, detailing what was covered on the lesson, what was good and what needs practice. This will then be completed at the end of each lesson. Your instructor will then check that you are happy and any questions will be answered. You will then be dropped off at home or work or other local place of your choice.

See you next time!
